NEED TO KNOW

  • Party of Five ran for six seasons on Fox, from 1994 to 2000

  • The drama earned a Golden Globe in 1996 and launched the careers of Matthew Fox, Scott Wolf, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert and Jennifer Love Hewitt

  • Following the lives of the Salinger siblings after their parents’ death, Chabert, who played Claudia, said the cast had “become family” off-screen

Fans said “goodbye” to the Salinger family when Party of Five went off the air on May 3, 2000.

The hit drama premiered on Fox on Sept. 12, 1994, and made stars out of its young cast, including Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Scott Wolf, Lacey Chabert and Jennifer Love Hewitt, over its six-season run. Party of Five followed the lives of five siblings after their parents were killed in a car crash, leaving eldest brother Charlie (Fox) to step up as their guardian.

The show earned a Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama in 1996 and received a nomination the following year in the same category.

During an April 2025 panel moderated by PEOPLE, Chabert, who played Claudia Salinger, said that she and her on-screen siblings all “burst into tears” after filming the show’s final scene.

“I thought it was a really nice way to end the show, and I remember we did that take [and] they call, like, ‘That’s a wrap,’ and we just all burst into tears, and we hugged, and we cried,” Chabert said, adding that it was “really hard to say goodbye in that way.”

Chabert said that she and her costars have remained close since the show ended.

“You know, when you spend six years of your life with a group of people, they become family, and so, you know, we all keep in touch, and they just mean so much to me,” she added.

From their acting careers to their personal lives, here’s everything to know about where the cast of Party of Five is today.

Matthew Fox as Charlie Salinger

Fox starred as Charlie, the eldest Salinger brother who assumes a guardian role after his parents’ sudden death. He dropped out of college to care for his siblings and often struggled with his new responsibilities.

A few years after Party of Five wrapped, Fox portrayed Jack on the hit series Lost, for which he earned an Emmy nomination. On the big screen, he appeared in Smokin’ Aces (2006), Speed Racer (2008), Alex Cross (2012), World War Z (2013) and Bone Tomahawk (2015).

At the height of his fame, the Wyoming-raised actor took a hiatus from Hollywood to spend more time with his family: wife Margherita Ronchi and their two children, daughter Kyle and son Byron.

“I felt like it was time to engage really intensely with my family,” he told Variety in 2026. “I had missed some of their childhood because I was on set all the time with Lost and doing films.”

Fox returned to the small screen in 2022, portraying Andy Yeats on the Peacock series Last Light. He’s since starred on C*A*U*G*H*T and The Madison.

When Wolf played Bailey, the troubled yet responsible second eldest of the Salinger siblings, it was only the beginning of his acting career.

After Party of Five, the New Jersey native joined the cast of Everwood. He then appeared on several other series, including The Nine, V, Perception, The CW’s Nancy Drew and The Night Shift, as well as voiced multiple characters on Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters. He’s had a recurring role on Fox’s Doc since 2025.

The actor, along with Chabert, has been a staple in Hallmark films throughout his career, which the pair described to PEOPLE in November 2023 as a “full-circle” experience.

Though he dated his Party of Five costar Paula Devicq while the show was airing, Wolf went on to marry Kelley Wolf in May 2004. He filed for divorce in June 2025 after 21 years of marriage, and several issues ensued, including a custody battle and restraining orders. The exes share three children: sons Jackson and Miller and daughter Lucy.

Neve Campbell as Julia Salinger

After portraying Julia, the intelligent, sensitive middle child of the five Salinger siblings, Campbell went on to star on several series and movies.

Most notably, she portrayed Sidney Prescott in multiple Scream films, including 2026’s Scream 7. The first installment in the franchise came out in 1996, during Campbell’s time on Party of Five, as did two other movies she’s well known for: The Craft (1996) and Wild Things (1998).

Her other post-Party of Five films include The Company (2003), An Amish Murder (2013) and Clouds (2020). On the small screen, she’s starred on House of Cards and The Lincoln Lawyer and appeared on shows like Medium, The Philanthropist, Grey’s Anatomy and Manhattan.

In May 2024, Campbell speculated on where Julia might be today, telling PEOPLE, “She’d be a professional writer. That was her thing. She always wanted to be a professional writer. Maybe she’s written a few novels, maybe she’s writing for The New York Times.”

The Canadian actress added that her character “probably ended up with Justin,” referring to her character’s longtime love interest, played by Michael Goorjian. The actors remain close today, so much so that Goorjian is godfather to Campbell’s two sons, Caspian and Raynor, whom she welcomed with partner JJ Feild.

Chabert played child prodigy Claudia, the second youngest of the Salinger siblings.

Once the show ended, she scored roles in Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Daddy Day Care (2003) and, of course, Mean Girls (2004), in which she starred as the so-fetch Gretchen Wieners.

The Mississippi native has become the Queen of Christmas, appearing in over 40 movies for the Hallmark Channel (so far!), including A Christmas Melody (2015) and A Merry Scottish Christmas (2023), in which she and Wolf reunited and played estranged siblings. She also starred in The Wedding Veil trilogy and the Crossword Mysteries and Haul Out the Holly franchises.

She’s also a voice actress, with well-respected performances on series like The Wild Thornberrys (voicing Eliza Thornberry!) and The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Off-screen, Chabert married David Nehdar in December 2013. The pair share one child, daughter Julia Mimi Bella.

Multiple actors played the youngest Salinger sibling, Owen, but Jacob Smith portrayed the character in later seasons. Owen was only an infant when the Salinger parents died, and he helped bring his siblings together after the tragedy.

After Party of Five, Smith continued to act, most notably starring as Jake Baker in Cheaper by the Dozen (2003) and the 2005 sequel.

After a guest spot on Secrets of a Small Town, the California-born actor largely retired from Hollywood, though he continued to work in theater productions, per his Instagram. He appears to have graduated from Charis Bible College, sharing a photo of his graduating class on Instagram in April 2018.

Smith also posts life updates, including photos and videos of his travels, music endeavors and adorable puppies Bella and Benji he got in 2022.

Goorjian played Julia’s love interest, Justin. He was already an acclaimed Emmy-winning actor when he joined the cast of Party of Five, but his career didn’t slow down after the show ended.

The San Francisco-born actor reprised his role as Heroin Bob in the SLC Punk’s 2016 sequel Punk’s Dead, and starred in films like Amerikana (2001) and HBO’s biopic The Wizard of Lies (2017). On the small screen, he’s had guest spots on Monk, House, CSI: Miami and Lucifer, among many other shows.

He also wrote, directed and starred in the 2004 indie film Illusion, which marked his feature directorial debut, and the 2022 dramedy Amerikatsi. The latter became Armenia’s selection for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Academy Awards.

Goorjian most recently had a recurring role on The Lincoln Lawyer, though his storyline did not overlap with that of Campbell, his former Party of Five love interest.

Starting on the drama’s second season, Hewitt portrayed Bailey’s on- and off-again girlfriend, Sarah. She quickly became a fan favorite and even had the short-lived spinoff Time of Your Life.

During an appearance on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown in January 2025, host Mayim Bialik asked Hewitt to describe the logline for Party of Five and her experience on the show.

“I remember getting the audition, and it just said that it was a show about these children who had lost their parents; their parents on the show were hit by a drunk driver, and they were all just left to sort of take care of each other and become this family,” Hewitt said. “I had done small bits of drama before, but never anything like this, and I was supposed to go on and play Scott Wolf’s girlfriend, which is not a bad job when you’re 15. I was like, ‘I’m sorry, what? Excuse me, thank you again, universe!’ “

She added, “It was a beautiful job to have at that time in my life. It was extraordinary.”

The Texas native has since starred on several shows, including Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds, The Client List (a spinoff of the 2010 Lifetime TV movie she also starred in) and 9-1-1.

Her post-Party film roles include Heartbreakers (2001), The Tuxedo (2002) and If Only (2004). Hewitt also reprised her role as Julia James in the 2025 I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, the franchise’s fourth film.

Hewitt married her The Client List costar Brian Hallisay in November 2013. The pair have welcomed three children together: daughter Autumn and sons Atticus and Aidan.

Jeremy London appeared on Party of Five as Griffin, one of Julia’s love interests. He was already known for shows such as I’ll Fly Away and the 1995 film Mallrats when he joined the series on season 2.

He’s since acted in dozens of projects, from series like 7th Heaven and HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me to films like Gods and Generals (2003), Kiss Me Again (2006), The Dinner Party (2020) and The Black Mass (2023). He also starred in and directed The Devil’s Dozen (2013). He most recently appeared in the 2026 indie anthology film Amityville: Descendants of Darkness, and he has a slew of projects on the horizon.

Though he has continued acting, London has been involved in several controversies over the years. In June 2010, he reported being abducted by several men in Palm Springs, Calif., alleging that they pulled a gun on him and made him take drugs.

His mother and brother publicly doubted him, prompting speculation that he had made up the story. However, London told PEOPLE he felt “vindicated” after one of his kidnappers pleaded guilty in March 2011.

The Texas-raised actor was charged with spousal battery in 2012, then arrested for alleged domestic violence in February 2018. The 2012 charges were ultimately dismissed, and no charges were pressed against him in 2018.

London was married to Melissa Cunningham, with whom he shares one son, from 2006 to 2011. He later wed Juliet Reeves in 2014. The pair also welcomed one son together.

Scott Grimes was already an experienced actor (and singer!) when he played Will McCorkle, Bailey’s best friend, on Party of Five.

The Massachusetts-born actor hasn’t slowed down since, landing roles on the miniseries Band of Brothers, NBC’s hit medical drama ER and American Dad!, as well as in several movies, including Robin Hood (2010) and Oppenheimer (2023). He also appeared on Peacock’s prequel series, Ted.

After splitting from ex-wife Dawn Bailey, with whom he shares two children, he married Megan Moore from 2011 to 2017. He then married his The Orville costar Adrianne Palicki, though they have gone their separate ways.
