Prince William’s love for Wimbledon is a tradition he shares with his late mother, Princess Diana.
The Prince of Wales first accompanied Diana to the Royal Box — the invite-only suite located inside Centre Court — for the 1991 women’s singles final. His love for tennis is something he shares with his wife, Kate Middleton, who’s an avid tennis player; the two made their Wimbledon debut as a couple in 2011, just two months after their wedding.
Five years later in 2016, Kate became the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), taking the role over from Queen Elizabeth following her 90th birthday.
Today, the couple carry on the summer sport tradition with their two older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who made their Wimbledon debuts in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Here are eight photos of royal children attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament, including Prince William and his kids.
