Steven McBee Sr. caught his family off guard with a podcast interview he recorded from prison.
To the surprise of those closest to him, the McBee Dynasty star, 54, appeared on the Roxanne and Shantel podcast, released on July 16. Steven McBee Jr. learned about the conversation through an Instagram post, and wrote in a comment, “How tf did y’all coordinate this podcast 😂 Gotta be the first Bravo podcast from behind bars.”
The 33-year-old said his dad — who surrendered to federal prison in December after pleading guilty to a multi-million dollar federal fraud scheme involving crop insurance benefits — is “in deep s— with the fam when he gets out after some of these answers vs what he’s told us.”
“Kacie, Cole and Mama McBee are NOT happy,” Steven Jr. wrote. “I’ve reached a point where I know he doesn’t shoot us straight when it comes to his women, so I stopped caring.”

The second part of his comment referenced what Steven Sr. said on the podcast about his current relationship status, as he confirmed that he is still dating Masha Petrova.
The family “didn’t think” that Steven Sr. was still involved with Masha, Steven Jr. said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on July 20, but the recent podcast episode changed their minds.
“He just did a podcast from prison where he said he may marry her,” Steven Jr. said, noting that he has “no idea” how the interview came to be.
In June, Steven Jr. told PEOPLE that he and his family are “focused on our businesses and what we have in front of us,” rather than holding out hope for the pardon that Steven Sr. is hoping to get from President Donald Trump.
“I don’t want to bet on blue sky. I don’t want to bet on things that could or couldn’t happen. We’re just putting our heads down, grinding and working through things as if nothing is going to happen,” he said.
“I think that’s the best way to work through this. If that happened, then great. But we don’t expect it, and we’re working through it either way.”

Steven’s brother, Cole McBee, told PEOPLE that Steven Sr. is “doing as good as he can be” after six months in prison.
“He’s a very optimistic person, so he’s staying positive. He’s trying to take this situation — we all are — and we’re learning from it as much as we can. We’re trying to grow from it and try and do better from everything here forward.”
