A confrontation at Wrigley Field has gone viral after one fan slapped another for not standing up for the national anthem.
In a video taken at the Chicago Cubs-Minnesota Twins game on Sunday, July 19, an older male fan smacked the back of a younger fan’s head after he neglected to stand up for the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
The younger fan — who looked to be in his 20s — remained sitting as the older man engaged him in a conversation.
The older man appeared to tell the youngster to “Get up!,” and when he didn’t, the older man hit his head — all of which prompted the younger fan to stand up for the remainder of the song.

Neither fan has been publicly identified, and a police report has not been filed, the Chicago Police Department told TMZ.
Users on social media were split about the interaction.
“Very disrespectful!” wrote one commenter, while another added: “More people should insist on respect from everyone around them for our country.”

Meanwhile, others maintained that the slap constituted assault, and that the younger fan had the right to stay seated.
“He has the right to sit down. That’s his prerogative. I would have slapped the s— out of that old man for putting hands on me,” another wrote.
