Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding surprised Brad Paisley in the best way.
Two weeks after attending the “Bad Blood” singer and the NFL star’s wedding with his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Brad reflected on the New York City nuptials during an interview with the Associated Press. He shared how the invitation was a fun “cat-and-mouse game” and called the star-studded celebration “one of the least pretentious weddings” he’s ever attended.
Just being invited to the wedding at Madison Square Garden on July 3 made the “She’s Everything” singer, 53, feel deeply appreciated. Although the invitation had limited details, he said Swift and Kelce, both 36, made it “very clear” that anyone who received one is dear to them.

“I took this personally when I got the invite, because in the invite, it said, ‘If you’re getting this, you mean a lot to us,’ ” Brad told the AP in an interview released on Friday, July 17. “And it was really fun to watch the cat-and-mouse game of like, ‘We can tell you roughly where it’s gonna be. We’re not gonna say what building… And here’s the date, and if you’re in, we’ll tell you more.’ And I was like, I went to my wife, I said, ‘Want to go?’ She’s like, ‘Absolutely. We’ve gotta be there.’ So we did it. It was RSVP yes.”
He continued, “Ironically, one of the least pretentious weddings I’ve ever seen, or ever will see. And so, yeah, it meant a lot to be… It was kind of a big thank you from her to invite us.”
Swift toured with Brad as a special guest in 2007 when she was a teenager, and the pair have appeared together at many music events.
Ahead of the wedding, Swift and Kelce made a $26 million donation to various charity organizations, including Brad and Kimberly’s Nashville grocery nonprofit organization, The Store. Brad and Kimberly have since expressed their gratitude to the newlyweds in multiple social media posts and interviews.
“We’re truly inspired by Taylor and Travis’s generosity to so many wonderful organizations, and extremely grateful that The Store is included among them,” Brad and Kimberly said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “This gift will go a long way toward helping our neighbors facing food insecurity in Nashville. What a beautiful way to celebrate the beginning of a marriage!”

After the wedding, Kimberly’s sister, Ashley Williams, revealed how Brad and Kimberly prepared for the phone-free wedding.
Leading up to the big day, Ashley discussed a lot “on a logistical level” with Kimberly, she said during an interview with PauseRewind released on July 9. A “very big stressor” was the strict no-phones wedding policy. Guests were told the rule in advance, but that left Kimberly wondering how to keep track of time and navigate the party.

“She was like, ‘What do I do if I have to go to the bathroom? And then I come back from the bathroom, and I don’t know anybody.’ The strategy was to take people with you to the bathroom,” Ashley explained. “There was a lot of, like, ‘I have to pee. Can you come with me?’ ”
She continued, “She was also like, ‘How am I gonna know what time it is?’ So Brad actually bought a watch because you were not allowed to have Apple Watches, either, so Brad bought just a watch so he could know what time it was.”
