Sean Avery is claiming that a neighbor sent women to his front door as a diversion while contractors working at his Los Angeles home came under fire.
The former NHL player turned actor shared the allegations in a series of Instagram Stories posted to his account on Tuesday, June 2. The post came after what he described as a shooting incident involving a neighbor at the Hollywood Hills home he shares with wife Hilary Rhoda.
According to Avery, he, Rhoda and their young son were not home when the incident unfolded.
“My God, I'm juggling a lot of things right now. I'm on set. I'm trying to watch the hockey game. My crazy neighbor shot out the tires of the contractor building a new deck at the house,” Avery claimed in the video.

As the alleged situation escalated, Avery claimed the neighbor attempted to use an unusual distraction.
In the video, Avery said that during the "standoff," the neighbor called two women to the home in an effort to "frame" Avery.
TMZ first reported the alleged incident, citing multiple sources with direct knowledge who identified the person in custody as Avery's neighbor.
The Los Angeles Police Department initially responded to a call at Avery's home around 10 a.m. Tuesday regarding alleged criminal threats, the outlet reported. The caller reported that a neighbor had been harassing and threatening contractors working at the property and said the issue had been ongoing, according to TMZ.
When officers arrived that morning, however, there was no indication that threats had been made, and no report was taken, the outlet reported.
Hours later, contractors were working at Avery and Rhoda's residence when shots rang out, sources familiar with the situation allegedly told TMZ.
Gunfire struck a tire on a contractor's vehicle during the incident, but no injuries have been reported. One person is in custody as authorities continue to investigate, according to the outlet.

Avery went on to criticize the response to the incident, claiming that authorities confiscated the neighbor's firearms but did little else.
“The cops won't do anything. They took his guns, and that's it,” Avery said.
PEOPLE has reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and Avery for comment.
