Tyga Responds After Doja Cat Calls Him a ‘Penis’ for Using AI to Make His New Album “$tarface”

Tyga is responding after Doja Cat criticized his use of AI for his recent album $tarface.

In a livestream on social media on Wednesday, Aug. 12, Doja (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini), 30, did not hold back on her thoughts about AI in music.

“Nobody asked me anything about Tyga, but I felt like saying this,” she said. “Tyga is a penis for making an AI album.”

Tyga (born Michael Ray Stevenson), 36, responded to Doja’s criticism in an appearance on TMZ Live.

“Listen, I love Doja, but she made a demonic album,” he said of her recent work. “But I still love her.”

The pair of rappers previously collaborated on two of Doja’s songs — a 2019 remix of “Juicy” and a feature on “Freaky Deaky” in 2022.

Doja’s remarks come after Tyga revealed he used AI to generate 1980s-inspired synths and guitars for his latest project, which marked a sharp pivot from his typical sound.

“It’s supposed to give you an experience and a feeling. But we definitely used AI as a [tool],” he told VIBE. “And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going. It’s no different than when AutoTune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it.”

During his appearance on TMZ Live, Tyga claimed he solely used AI for production purposes, but that he wrote the lyrics and performed the vocals himself.

Tyga recently opened up to PEOPLE exclusively about wanting to reinvent his sound.

“I just feel like there’s no rules anymore,” Tyga said in July. “You don’t have to put yourself in a box on what things have to be creatively. I’ve been in the game for 15 years-plus. So, after a while, you just got to try different stuff.”

“This is the first project that people are seeing that’s completely different than other things that I’ve done,” he added. “This character, $TARFACE, is a completely separate artist, completely separate aesthetic and everything.”
