Consumers are being urged to check their medicine cabinets after a popular moringa supplement sold through major online retailers was recalled over concerns it may be linked to an ongoing Salmonella outbreak.
Total Nutrition Inc. has voluntarily recalled select lots of its TNVitamins and Doctor's Pride Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa capsules after federal health officials warned the products could be contaminated with Salmonella. The products were sold nationwide through online platforms including Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop and Target, as well as the companies' own websites, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall was first announced on May 26 and later expanded on June 2 to include additional lots as investigators continued examining a broader outbreak linked to dietary supplements containing imported moringa leaf powder. The FDA said its investigation remains ongoing.

The affected products include TNVitamins-brand Ultra Potent Complete Green Superfood Moringa capsules, 10,000 mg, with lot numbers 2507199, 2512-304, 2793 and 2748, as well as Doctor's Pride Complete Green Superfood Ultra Potent Moringa, 10,000 mg, with lot numbers 2507199 and 2748. Consumers who purchased the products are being advised to stop using them immediately, dispose of them and contact the company for a refund, according to the FDA.
The company said the recall was initiated after it was notified by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the products "may be implicated in an ongoing investigation associated with moringa-containing dietary supplement products."
"Total Nutrition Inc. has ceased distribution and sale of the identified product and has initiated removal orders across all applicable sales and fulfillment channels while the FDA, CDC and the company continue their investigation," the company said in its recall announcement. "No other TNVitamins or Doctor's Pride products are involved."
The recall comes as federal health officials continue investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections tied to products containing moringa leaf powder.
As of May 27, 119 people across 36 states had been infected with one of the outbreak strains, and 32 people had been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported. Among 79 people interviewed, 70 reported consuming a product containing moringa leaf powder before becoming ill, including four people who reported consuming TNVitamins moringa capsules, according to the FDA.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms commonly include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, though more severe complications can occur in rare cases, according to the FDA.

In a notice posted on its website, Total Nutrition said it was "proactively recalling select lots of our Moringa supplement out of an abundance of caution" and urged customers with affected products to stop using them immediately.
"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused," the company said. "Your trust means everything to us and we are committed to making this right."
