Margot Robbie is about to Met Gala the night away.
Following a three-year break from fashion's biggest night, Robbie, 35, took the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a fitted gold gown with a cascading train — a look befitting the night's dress code, "Fashion Is Art."
The custom Chanel gown, designed by the fashion house's new creative director Matthieu Blazy, featured a draped, fitted bodice and flowing skirt, plus a delicate train lined with flower petal appliqués in the same golden hue. The gown included nearly 1,100 pieces of embroidery and took a total of 761 hours to create, Vogue reported.
Robbie accessorized the look with a ring on each hand and a pair of drop earrings, and she pulled her blond locks back into a neat updo.

The dress code for this year's Met Gala — "Fashion Is Art" — is linked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's spring 2026 exhibition, titled "Costume Art."
“It will be transformative for our department, but I also think it's going to be transformative to fashion more generally — the fact that an art museum like The Met is actually giving a central location to fashion," curator in charge Andrew Bolton explained.
The exhibit will also address “the centrality of the dressed body in the museum's vast collection” by pairing paintings, sculptures and other objects spanning the 5,000 years of art represented in The Met alongside historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute.

Robbie has been going to the star-studded since 2014, when she made her debut in a custom Prada gown featuring a sheer top with eyelets and an ankle-length skirt with mosaic embellishments.
She made her first time a big moment not just with her dress, but with her hair, too. She unveiled a brunette look rather than keeping her famous blonde color.

For her most recent appearance, Robbie dug into the Chanel archives and decided to wear an ethereal yet gothic gown from the label's spring/summer 1993 collection. The design was first worn by Cindy Crawford on the runway.
"They remade it for me, and it's obviously a Karl design. I feel really great in it, actually," Robbie said on the Vogue red carpet livestream of her nod to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who was the inspiration for that year's theme.
Although Crawford wasn't in attendance, she did show her appreciation for Robbie's choice on Instagram, writing, “Love seeing this look come back to life."
