On June 23, the actress, 47, took a stroll in New York City in a good ol’ pair of cargo pants — a trend with an impact that’s grown even bigger than its ultra-functional pockets.

While Hudson is the latest patron of the pants, Oprah Winfrey, Brittany Mahomes, Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Lawrence have also forgone basic bottoms in exchange for cargos at one point or another. What stood out most to us about Hudson’s cargos (besides the roomy pockets!) was the cuffed hems. The detail makes them seem more breathable than floor-grazing pants, and, theoretically, prevents the hems from collecting dirt on city streets or in airplane lavatories, which is a nice perk. The fabric also “stretches with you rather than fighting your movements,” per one shopper, so you can rest assured that they’re as comfy as can be.
