Didi Conn is dedicated to her beauty routine.
The Grease actress, 74, recently partnered with Laura Geller Beauty for the brand's entry into hair products. To launch the Root Touch Up — a dual-ended cream- and powder-based product for roots and brows — she dished on all things beauty, including what her routine has looked like over the years.
Conn admits that "early on" in her life, she realized the importance of taking care of her skin, in particular and recounts the moment it all kicked off for her.

"I was in an elevator going to an audition, and it was for a commercial, and standing next to me was someone, an actress that I recognized from so many commercials," she tells PEOPLE. "I had to say, 'You have the most beautiful skin. What do you do?' She said, 'Don't ever use soap.' Okay. Then she got out of the elevator."
The actress calls that tip "the most basic thing," but one that she's stuck to. Instead, she uses a gentle cleanser with a warm towel. After that? "Moisturizer, moisturizer," she says, noting that skin gets more dry as you age, not to mention contending with environmental factors that can also wreak havoc on skin.
"You want to keep moisturizing," she adds.

When it comes to her hair, Conn is all for keeping those grays covered, thanks to Laura Geller Beauty's newest product. While she embraces the aging process, she still wants her roots to match the rest of her hair, and that means using Root Touch Up when needed to keep her hair its soft brown hue.
"Say you all of a sudden get invited out to dinner and there's a little of a streak like a skunk. You don't want to look skunky," Conn says with a laugh while demonstrating how she uses the product. "All you have to do is dab the cream [in your] part … and it's gone."
She admits she's tried numerous other similar products that have not worked nearly as well as this one, including spray formulas that simply did not sit right.
This product, which comes in five shades and is exclusively launching on Amazon on June 23 for Prime Day, is founder Laura Geller's first haircare offering. In a press release, Geller says she also struggled to find a root touch-up product that worked for "mature women," which is what her brand is all about.
"I knew that if I needed an easier, more natural-looking solution for gray coverage, thinning hair and sparse brows, our customer probably did too," she says. "This launch marks our first entry into haircare, and I'm so proud we created something that's intuitive to use, looks natural and helps you feel confident the moment you apply it."
For the launch, Geller tapped Conn for a Beauty Service Announcement based on her Grease character Frenchy's "Beauty School Dropout" scene in the 1978 film. The campaign encourages women to "rethink" having to go to the salon so often, all while tapping into the nostalgia of Grease and the well-known song.
Grab the new Root Touch Up exclusively on Amazon now and at Laura Geller Beauty on July 1.
