- An employee of the store called the win “life-changing” and said it shows big prizes happen in their community
The odds were on the side of an Ohio man who recently struck gold with back-to-back lottery wins.
While playing the new $50 Ohio Lottery Scratch-Off Millionaire Blowout, a Toledo man won two whopping sums from the same convenience store, according to a Monday, July 27, press release from the Ohio Lottery. The winner chose to remain anonymous.
His first scratch-off ticket revealed he won $40,000 a year for 25 years, or $1 million in total. The man took the cash option of $500,000, so he will walk away with $366,250 after paying the mandatory state and federal taxes of 26.75%.
Surprised by his luck, the customer then bought another ticket that same day, which had a $25,000 prize. After taxes, his second ticket added $18,312.50 to his total.
His jackpot ticket was purchased at Mike’s Corner Store located at 2425 Key St. in Toledo.
Even Mike’s Corner Store staff couldn’t believe the news.
“We found out that somebody hit the big prize,” Stephanie Krampton, an employee at Mike’s Corner Store location, told WKYC. “I didn’t know it was right in a row at first. We ended up finding that out a little bit later.”
Krampton claimed that of all of the Mike’s Corner Store locations, Key Street sees the highest number of repeat customers.
Krampton said the Key Street Mike’s Corner Store location sees “a lot of loyal customers,” one of whom just might be the double winner.
“It’s amazing. It’s a life-changing win, and I couldn’t be happier,” she told WKYC. “It’s a win for everybody. It’s a win for the community too because now, look, it does happen here. It does happen in Toledo.”

The lucky winner already has plans for his newfound fortune.
He intends to spend his lottery winnings on an extended vacation that he already had in the works, the Toledo resident told an Ohio Lottery representative, adding that he also wants to buy a new vehicle and give a portion to his children. Whatever is left of his big win will go into his bank account.
