- Tom Holland said he’d love to usher in the next Spider-Man, “whatever that looks like”
- He’s also been thinking of eventually “swinging off into the sunset”
- Holland, who marked 10 years as Spider-Man this year, will reprise the role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Tom Holland is looking beyond his legacy as Spider-Man.
The actor, 29, first stepped into the role of Peter Parker in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Since then, he has starred in three Spider-Man movies, with a fourth, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, opening in July. With Brand New Day on the way, Holland told Empire that he's been thinking of passing the torch someday.
Holland is already the third actor to play Peter Parker on the big screen, following Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who both appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside him.

“For whoever's next, whether that is a Miles Morales or a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” he told Empire, referring to other lead characters in the Spider-Man family. “Whatever that looks like, I don't know."
"But, if I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset," Holland continued, referring to Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark like a father figure in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
After Peter Parker broke onto the Marvel Cinematic Universe scene in 2016 as a rookie superhero, Holland starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming the following year, Far From Home in 2019 and No Way Home in 2021. He also played Spidey in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and cameoed in Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Brand New Day, loosely inspired by the comics storyline of the same name, picks up right after the events of No Way Home. Peter now lives in a world where his loved ones don't remember who he is, but he still operates as Spider-Man.
