Suki Waterhouse Says Her Identity Was 'Cut Open' After Becoming a Mom, Rebuilding Relationship with Herself and Robert Pattinson

Suki Waterhouse is focusing on getting her sparkle back.

The singer and model, 34, was interviewed by Variety about her upcoming new album and spoke openly about becoming a mom to her 2-year-old daughter, whom she shares with fiancé Robert Pattinson.

Waterhouse shared that she struggled with feeling like her identity had been "cut open" after becoming a mom.

"I felt like my identity had been cut open in becoming a mother and also having a lot of expectations on myself," she said. "Internally, there's been quite a lot of turmoil and just wondering if I'm doing the right thing."

"And especially, oh my God, the hormones right after you have a baby are so intense. It's like [I got] belief back in myself and then also being…I don't want to say back in love with my partner, because it sounds like I was out of it, which I was never," continued Waterhouse.

She also talked about the way that having a child creates a "new relationship" with your partner. "Your old relationship has been wiped out, and so it's building that new one and kind of celebrating the beauty in that, like, we've survived this," she said.

Waterhouse and Pattinson, who have been engaged since December 2023, have kept their baby daughter's life very private over the years.

However, Waterhouse took a moment to honor her daughter as she celebrated her second birthday in March. The proud mom shared a rare photo on her Instagram Stories from her daughter's Elmo-themed birthday party.

In the black-and-white snap, Waterhouse smiled as she crouched next to someone dressed up as Elmo, both looking into the distance at something. Elmo stood next to a large balloon arch decorated with faces of the Sesame Street character and a sign seemingly dedicated to the birthday girl.

"My princess is 2 she's the light of my life 💘," Waterhouse captioned the photo.

In January 2025, Pattinson spoke with Vogue and shared a glimpse into his life as a new dad.

"I remember people used to be like, 'Oh, don't you like the smell of babies, but I thought they were just smelling the baby powder," the actor told the outlet with a laugh. “But then I had a baby, and I was like 'my baby smells incredible.'"

Pattinson enjoys his daughter's smell because "there's something there" that helps him "identify her."

"She doesn't smell like other babies," he added.

Waterhouse's upcoming album, Loveland, will be released on July 10. Pattinson recently starred in The Drama, and has four more movies slated for release in 2026: The Odyssey, Primetime, Dune: Part Three and Here Comes the Flood.
