NEED TO KNOW

  • Content creator Catherine Ebs got her first nose job in 2023, after she was diagnosed with a deviated septum and was told insurance would cover the procedure
  • She came out on the other side of the operation dissatisfied, and she finally sought a revision rhinoplasty in 2026, when she moved to New York City and had access to the exact expert surgeon she wanted
  • Ebs documented all aspects of the revision process on her social media platforms, where her millions of followers can access her experience if they are searching for their own answers too

Catherine Ebs always disliked the way her nose looked, but when she finally got the opportunity to change it, the results still left her wanting something different.

The content creator, 29, wasn't even seeking a rhinoplasty when she first learned she qualified for an operation that would be covered by her insurance. An ear, nose and throat specialist diagnosed Ebs with a deviated septum during an appointment for an unrelated issue in 2023, and she admits she did no further research before jumping at the chance to fix an insecurity.

"I was young, hopeful, and trusted the process," she recalls to PEOPLE almost three years later. "I've hated my nose for as long as I can remember. From a young age, it became the first thing I noticed in every mirror, every photo, every major life moment. No matter how good the day was, my confidence was never fully there because my main thought always ran back to 'but look at my nose.'"

Ultimately, the insured nose job fixed the problem it set out to address. However, despite the repaired deviated septum, Ebs was unsatisfied. "I was still left with a nose that was 'fine,'" she says. "And after plastic surgery, I didn't want 'fine,' I wanted immaculate."

Ebs' vision of immaculate results was reflected in the work of Dr. Ramtin Kassir, a New York City-based plastic surgeon whom she watched from afar. In the interest of avoiding multiple operations, Ebs only sought the best of the best.

However, she wouldn't have access to Dr. Kassir until early 2026, when she finally moved to New York City. She booked a consultation, and within the first hour of the consultation, Ebs knew her instincts were right. He was the perfect person to help her fix the issue and achieve confidence.

"In revision work, a surgeon isn't only working against nature, they're correcting the work of someone else," Ebs notes. "Is it a need? No. Was it cosmetically not correct after having a rhinoplasty already? Absolutely."

"Within a few weeks, I was on the table and praying for the outcome I've wanted since I was young enough to understand the beauty standard in this world," says Ebs, who underwent the procedure in early April.

In both the lead-up and the aftermath, Ebs documented the process of getting her nose redone for her millions of followers across Instagram and TikTok platforms. As someone whose career is based online, it wasn't hard for her to share it all; plus, she felt it was deeply important to give it the attention she did.

"People see me every day, and I never wanted anyone to look at me afterward and think, 'She just woke up like that.' In today's world, silence around procedures often creates comparison. It feeds the illusion that beauty is effortless, natural and somehow inaccessible to everyone else," the social media star tells PEOPLE. "I really didn't want to contribute to that. I know cosmetic surgery is a choice many people won't make, can't make or simply don't want. But for me, honesty matters more than hiding it."

She calls her revision rhinoplasty one of the best decisions she's ever made for herself (aside from marrying her husband, Raphael). Ebs hopes that her story and experience will help the next person who finds themselves searching the internet for what to expect after making a life-changing decision like plastic surgery.

"I've done that in moments of grief after losing a parent at 25, when I quit my job to heal, when I built a business from the ground up, when I cut off toxic family dynamics, when I moved across the country. So many life transitions can feel isolating when no one around you understands," she reflects.

"I believe two things can be true at once: Unrealistic beauty standards are harmful, and people should have the freedom to make informed choices about their own bodies if it helps them feel more confident, more comfortable and more at peace," Ebs adds. "We get one life. If you have the opportunity to improve something that deeply affects your confidence and you're doing it for you, that deserves understanding, not judgment."
