Chelsea Handler knows consistency is key!
On Friday, May 22, the 51-year-old comedian started off her Memorial Day weekend by documenting her progress in the gym.
“I’m going full Jersey,” she captioned an Instagram video, tagging her personal trainer Ben Bruno.
In the clip, Handler began with “week 1,” which showed her lifting a 25-lb. with one hand as she used her core to balance with one leg extended.
“What is this exercise for?” she asked. “I don’t know, just killing time,” Bruno quipped.

After joking, Bruno let his client and her followers know that the exercise was meant to target the core and back muscles. However, Handler claimed she felt it was working “in neither of those places” as she continued.
“Perfect,” Bruno said while laughing.
Ciara’s “Level Up” began to play as the video transitioned to Handler in the same position, this time lifting 30 lbs., four weeks into her training.
Next up was week six.
“First set with the new 35-lb. dumbbell,” Bruno said from behind the camera as he watched Handler work out. “Damn, bro,” he added as she powered through their session.
Handler ended the video with a smile.
At the start of their core and back-focused journey in early April, the Chelsea Lately alum shared a post when she was beginning with 25 lbs.
"Being on tour is serious business,” she captioned the Instagram post, adding, “See you this weekend, CHICAGO [SOLD OUT], INDIANAPOLIS, and LOUISVILLE.”
The comedian is currently on her High and Mighty tour, and is making sure she is in tip-top shape for her time on the road.

Handler has been open about her health and fitness, previously telling PEOPLE that her workouts are less about “looking good” and more about how moving her body and being active makes her feel.

“Now to me, working out is about being strong in your body for your health, while before it was about being physically looking good,” she told PEOPLE at an event for Reebok’s new PureMove Bra in August 2018. “Whereas now I’m like, I have to mentally be strong in order to work hard and get s— done. It makes you feel better. At a certain age, you’re just like, okay. I mean, obviously, I want to look good too, but it becomes more about being mentally strong.”
“When you’re running around and traveling a lot and working a lot and you have your hands in a bunch of different things, you just have to stay strong and you don’t want to get sick and you don’t want to be weak,” Handler added of her busy lifestyle. “So that’s my whole thing. It’s just: Do everything to be strong.”
