Sadie Sink knows what it takes to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe — but even she didn't know what she was signing up for.
The Stranger Things star, 24, will make her Marvel debut in an undisclosed role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in theaters July 31. She told Nylon in an interview published on Wednesday, July 1, that she was offered her role in the upcoming movie without an audition as she had worked with the director Destin Daniel Cretton in 2017's The Glass Castle.
Given Marvel's dedication to keeping secrets under wraps, she also didn’t receive the script until she landed in London for filming.
“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she told the outlet about protecting the big secret, something that she’s used to doing from her Stranger Things years.

The actress also revealed how Tom Holland made her feel welcomed on the set of the fourth Spider-Man movie, in which he plays the titular character.
“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general,” Sink said.
“He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease,” she added of Holland, 30.
Despite it all, there was still much about the Marvel process that surprised her.
“I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man,” she told Nylon. “I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”

While Sink is new to the franchise, Holland reprises his role as the titular superhero, whose real name is Peter Parker.
“It's a brand new day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn't remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control,” a synopsis for the action flick teases.
“But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see,” it continues. “The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn't forgotten them.”

Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo are also reprising their Marvel roles in the latest installment.
The follow-up to 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home is directed by Cretton with a script from Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers and Justin Kuritzkes.
Last year, Sink opened up about being cast in her secretive role in a December 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Oh, it was crazy,” she said. “Spider-Man has always been my favorite. I love Spider-Man. I love Tom’s Spider-Man, especially. To be a fan of something and then join it is a familiar feeling for me, because I was a fan of Stranger Things before I joined the show, but I was super excited about what they had planned.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.
