Scott Michael Foster is married!
The actor, known for his roles in Chasing Life, You, Greek and Once Upon a Time, tied the knot with Carson Fagerbakke at the medieval Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England, on Saturday, Aug. 1. The couple was joined by 90 loved ones for the occasion, including the bride’s father, actor Bill Fagerbakke, who famously voices the character Patrick Star in SpongeBob SquarePants.

Scott, 41, tells PEOPLE that he and Carson — who met on the set of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend eight years ago — chose their wedding venue because they enjoy traveling and “love a castle.”
“We were in the U.K. when we both realized we wanted to get married, so it felt fitting to come back for this moment,” he added.

When planning their dream wedding, the couple envisioned “an unforgettable celebration with friends and family in a stunning and historic location” and leaned into a vibe of “classy, moody and cinematic.”
“We were so excited to celebrate with our friends and family and see them all dressed up and together under one roof,” Scott — who stars alongside Lacey Chabert in the new Hallmark+ series Paris Is Always a Good Idea — says of their hopes for their special day.

The festivities kicked off on the eve of the wedding with a rehearsal dinner. Then, on Saturday, the bride, 32, and groom exchanged handwritten vows in an intimate ceremony, officiated by Carson’s sister, Hannah Royce.

Carson, who walked down the aisle to “Falling Slowly” from the movie Once, chose Kim Kassas Couture’s romantic Isabelle gown, featuring a silk taffeta structured corset bodice detailed with dusted pink and silver Indian embroidery. She paired it with a Spanish tulle veil.
Carson says she immediately knew it was “the one.”

“It was the first dress I tried on, and after several other appointments nothing came close,” she recalls. “It was the only dress I’d ever had on a Pinterest board. I love the basque waist and the embellishments on the corset. I was drawn to the overall drama of the look.”
Describing it as her “dream dress,” she adds, “I couldn’t believe I got to wear it.”

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated at a reception that included an elegant plated dinner. Dessert was berry pavlova, along with classic British confections including Eton mess and sticky toffee pudding.

Scott and Carson shared their first dance as husband and wife to a mashup of “A 1000 Times” by Hamilton Leithauser and “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne.
“It was the best celebration ever,” Carson says of their wedding day.

The couple got engaged in 2024. Scott popped the question at Christmas “in front of the whole family.”
“Truly she had no idea,” he says of his surprise proposal.
Now that they are married, Scott is looking forward to “sharing life with my best friend” and “going on this journey together.”

Carson says she feels lucky to have “a partner I trust and love more than anyone else.”
“I’m excited to continue exploring with my favorite person. Always having him to share life with, both the good and bad parts,” she adds.
Reflecting on his connection with his new wife, Scott says he loves that the two laugh a lot together. Adds Carson, “It’s just endless fun — and endless support. I love how safe he makes me feel.”

As they jump into married life, they are excited for everything that is to come.
“I feel like we are just getting started and have our lives ahead of us,” Scott tells PEOPLE.

“We’ve changed so much since we first started dating eight years ago,” Carson chimes in, “and I can’t wait to see how we evolve in the next 8 years.”
