Joely Richardson is reflecting on one of her late sister Natasha Richardson's "happiest" days.
Natasha tragically died at age 45 on March 18, 2009, two days after she suffered a severe brain injury after falling and hitting her head during a private ski lesson on a family trip in Quebec, Canada. Seventeen years after her sudden death, the actress was remembered by Joely on what would've been Natasha's 63rd birthday on Monday, May 11.
"11th of May is forever my sister's birthday, even though she left this earthly plane 17 yrs ago," Joely, 61, wrote on Instagram alongside three photos of Natasha with her husband, Liam Neeson, set to "Symphony No. 5" by Jean Sibelius. "She and I loved how rousing this piece of music is- it would make her smile that I've picked it."

Thanks to the "recent '90s revival," photos of Natasha and Neeson, 73, keep "popping up" on her phone, so she felt inclined to share them, Joely explained. The first photo in the carousel is of the couple looking lovingly at one another on their wedding day.
"The day Tasha married Liam Neeson was one of the happiest of her life ( the tenderness of her upward gaze)- she couldn't believe it, and we danced til' dawn," Joely wrote. "Oh the glamour of this couple, their warmth and humour."
Natasha and Neeson rocked sunglasses in the second photo, which showed them walking hand in hand at the Los Angeles International Airport in 1994.
The final black-and-white image, which Joely said she especially loves because "it's full of mischief, and utterly her," was of the pair sitting side by side and sharing a subtle smile at a fashion event in New York City in 1993.
"Seize the day, she did ♥️," Joely concluded.
