  • More than 250,000 Sloosh dive sticks have been recalled because they pose a potential impalement hazard to children
  • The recalled pool toys were sold online through Amazon, Temu, Wayfair, Target Plus and SHEIN between 2019 and 2025
  • Consumers are being urged to stop using the dive sticks immediately and dispose of them in exchange for redesigned replacements

Parents may want to take a closer look at their pool toys this summer.

More than 250,000 dive sticks sold as part of a popular pool toy set have been recalled after federal safety regulators warned that the products pose a potential impalement hazard that could result in serious injuries.

The recall affects about 254,000 Sloosh dive sticks sold as part of Sloosh water toys, according to a Thursday, June 11, notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalled dive sticks allegedly violate federal safety regulations because they exceed the allowable compression limit for dive sticks, according to the agency. In shallow water, children can fall or land on the toys, creating a risk of serious "piercing injuries." The CPSC also said facial and eye injuries are possible when children attempt to retrieve the sticks underwater.

The recalled dive sticks were sold in a 30-piece Sloosh water toy set that included five colorful dive sticks. The sets retailed for between $17 and $22, according to the agency.

The products were available online through Amazon, Temu, Wayfair, Target Plus and SHEIN between February 2019 and October 2025, according to the CPSC.

Only dive sticks included in model 40041 packages sold before Oct. 23, 2025, are affected by the recall, according to the CPSC and Joyin, the importer of the products. Consumers can find the model number on the back of the box near the barcode and on one end of the dive stick alongside the company's name and tracking information, according to the recall notice.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, according to the CPSC.

Joyin said the recall was issued voluntarily in cooperation with federal regulators and applies only to the dive sticks included in the affected toy sets.

"At Joyin, safety is our highest priority, and we work diligently to earn the trust of parents and caregivers every day," the company said in its recall announcement.

The company said it has since redesigned the dive sticks to comply with federal safety standards.

Consumers are being instructed to stop using the recalled dive sticks immediately, keep them away from children and dispose of them, according to the CPSC.

To receive replacement dive sticks, consumers should photograph the discarded products in the trash and email the image to Joyin. The company said it will then send redesigned dive sticks that meet federal regulations in the same quantity as those discarded.

The recall applies only to the dive sticks. Other toys included in the Sloosh water toy set can continue to be used, according to the CPSC.

PEOPLE has reached out to Joyin for comment.
