Meet the New Characters in “Ransom Canyon” Season 2

Season 2 of the Netflix Western features some fresh faces, including relatives of Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel’s characters

Even in a small Texas town like Ransom Canyon, new faces can show up at any moment.

The second season of the Netflix series, which premiered on July 23, sees the return of stars Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel as Quinn O’Grady and Staten Kirkland, longtime friends who have an undeniable romantic connection that unfortunately went sour. Season 2 picks up six months after the dramatic end to their romance.

Marianly Tejada and Jack Schumacher also return as Ellie Estevez and Yancy Grey, in addition to Lizzy Greene as Lauren Brigman, Garrett Wareing as Lucas Russell and Brett Cullen as Sam Kirkland, among others.

New episodes also mean new faces. Several characters find themselves in Ransom Canyon, including relatives. Patricia Clarkson plays Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s mother, while Steve Howey portrays Levi, Staten’s half-brother.

Showrunner April Blair teased the themes for the latest installment to Tudum. “Season 2 is really about community, rebuilding … and coming together,” she said. “There’s definitely a lightness and hopefulness in Season 2.”

Patricia Clarkson as Claire O’Grady

Clarkson joins the second season of Ransom Canyon as Claire O’Grady, the mother of Quinn. Claire is described as “the drop-dead gorgeous mother of Quinn,” who is “both maternal and self-involved.”

“Quinn’s mother, Claire — played by Clarkson, who’s an icon — comes to town, and she’s a little Postcards from the Edge meets The Notebook,” Blair told Tudum. “What did she do to mess up? We find out there are some secrets from the past.”

While not much else is known about her character yet, Claire speaks to Staten in the season 2 trailer. “Love is a canyon, it feels impossible to cross,” she says. “But once you make it to the other side, it’s damn near breathtaking.”

Ben Robson as Oliver

Ben Robson is another newcomer to Ransom Canyon, portraying the character Oliver. Robson’s character is a new love interest for Quinn, described as a “mysterious, accented new man,” who asked Quinn to marry him.

Oliver makes an appearance during the season 2 trailer, when Quinn and Staten are having a drink at their local bar, Gracie’s.

After Staten confesses that he misses Quinn and vows to not “make the same mistake twice,” Quinn says that she needs to tell him something.

Later, Oliver tells Staten that he has heard “so much” about him, while Staten tells him he’s “never heard anything about you.”

Heidi Grace Engerman as Sidney

Heidi Grace Engerman is part of the Ransom Canyon season 2 cast, playing Sidney, Yancy’s wife, per Deadline.

In December 2025, Blair shared details with Deadline about the effect Sidney’s arrival has on the town, explaining, “She comes to town and causes a whole lot of trouble, a lot of fun trouble.”

“There’s a lot of surprises for Yancy this season that are going to be super fun and a lot of stakes to his wife showing up,” the showrunner continued. “Can he get rid of her? Does he want to get rid of her? Why does he need to get rid of her? And it picks at his history a little too.”

She added, “We always alluded to Yancy having this grifter criminal past, and now the context of that starts to come into focus with the wife’s arrival.”

Steve Howey as Levi

Howey appears in the new episodes of Ransom Canyon as Levi, Staten’s half-brother. His character is described as “a mountain man of sorts who lives off the land,” per Variety.

Although few details are known about Levi, Duhamel and Howey have known each other for decades.

Duhamel told Tudum, “I’ve known that dude since the early 2000s. I actually recommended him for the part. He came in and did an amazing job.”

Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis as themselves

Country music stars Thomas Rhett and Jordan Davis are both set to appear in Ransom Canyon season 2 as themselves.

In the trailer for the new season, Rhett and Davis — who collaborated on the 2022 single “Ain’t a Bad Life” — were spotted on stage.
