NEED TO KNOW

  • David Harbour won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2026 Emmy Awards
  • Jason Bateman, Richard Gadd, Richard Jenkins, Charles Melton and Nick Offerman were also nominated in the category
  • The trophy marked a career first for the Stranger Things alum

David Harbour has won his first career Emmy.

The DTF St. Louis actor, 51, took home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys ceremony held on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Jason Bateman, Richard Gadd, Richard Jenkins, Charles Melton and Nick Offerman were also nominated in the category.

Prior to DTF St. Louis, Harbour had been nominated twice at the Emmys for Stranger Things. Now being recognized for his performance as Floyd Smernitch in the HBO series, he told The Hollywood Reporter was “very moving.”

“The fact that there were 13 nominations across the board for this show? And all the acting in it got nominated? It’s just like an embrace of us in a way that I really appreciate,” he said. “I am taking the time to bask in and appreciate it.”

His cast mate, Bateman, is a two-time nominee at this year’s awards show. Along with his nod for playing Clark Forrest in DTF St. Louis, he was also nominated for Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Black Rabbit. This year’s nominations brought his career total to 18 Emmy nods. He won for directing on Ozark in 2019.

Elsewhere among this year’s nominees, Gadd earned his fourth Emmy nomination for Half Man. He played Ruben in the drama series about a pair of estranged brothers, which he also created. The nomination came after he swept the 2024 awards show for Baby Reindeer, collecting wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

DTF St. Louis also earned Jenkins his fourth Emmy nomination for his role as Detective Donoghue Homer. He was previously nominated for playing Lionel Dahmer in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, and he won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie in 2015 for Olive Kitteridge.

He said he was “stunned” to learn of his nomination for the HBO series. “I mean, Jason and David, they’re extraordinary in this. So that’s what you figure, that’s what’s going to happen,” he told Gold Derby, referring to his costars who are nominated in the same category.

Melton is the only first-time nominee in the category. He was recognized for his role as Austin in Beef season 2, which earned 16 nominations overall this year, including nods for his costars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan. “To be recognized and celebrated, it’s something I don’t take lightly,” Melton told PEOPLE of the nomination. “It’s going to be fun. I’m looking forward to it, I really am. It’s pretty sick.”

Offerman, like Bateman, is also a double nominee this year. He is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for playing Chester Arthur in Death by Lightning, and also for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Margo’s Got Money Troubles. “It’s pretty kooky,” he told PEOPLE of the nominations. “I’ve been working for a long time, and to get a couple of pats on the back is pretty wild. I was happy just getting jobs, so then to get any kind of commendation on top of that feels like I better keep minding my manners.”

The 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards are being held on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be edited into a single broadcast that airs Saturday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FXX and streams on Hulu the next day. The Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, Sept. 14, with host Mariska Hargitay.
