Khloé Kardashian is recalling the early days of Dash — and how it wasn't exactly smooth sailing at first.
During a recent episode of SiriusXM’s The Morgan Stewart Show, The Kardashians star, 41, admitted that she and sisters Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian “didn’t know” what they were doing when they first opened the boutique.
Remembering how their mom, Kris Jenner, approached the sisters about potentially doing a reality series shortly after they had established the clothing retail chain around 2006, Khloé said, "At first we were like, ‘We're not doing this.’ "
"And how my mom conned us into doing it was, she said, ‘Think of it as a commercial for the store,' " the mother of two continued. "Because all we wanted to do [was the store]."

"We had no employees. It was just me and Kourt,” Khloé added. “We did everything: the cleaning, the taxes, the steaming of the clothes. We had not one employee. We didn't know what the f— we were doing.”

Khloé said the family initially funded the store’s flagship location in Calabasas, Calif., using a credit card co-opened by their late father, Robert Kardashian, who died at age 59 from esophageal cancer years earlier in 2003.
“When my dad passed away, [Kourtney] had a credit card that was in my dad's name, but it was her credit card,” the Good American co-founder explained, joking that it was “sort of morbid — but not.”
“And it rolled over into just her name, and she had a $50,000 limit. And we were like, ‘$50,000! That's insane. This is insane!’ And we bought all these clothes for Dash and … we didn't know what we were doing," added Khloé.
"We [didn’t] know a thing about buying, we [didn’t] know a thing about location," she continued. "Is Calabasas good? We just lived there. And we're like, 'Let's do this.' And, we just did it."

The Kardashian sisters went on to open additional Dash locations over the years, including spots in Los Angeles, New York City and Miami Beach.
The brand ultimately shut its doors in April 2018 after more than a decade. Kim, 45, announced the news on her app and website.
“After nearly 12 years, my sisters and I have decided to close the doors of our DASH stores,” she wrote at the time.
“We opened our first store as a family in 2006 and since then we have made so many lifelong memories. From opening locations in Los Angeles, Miami and New York, to having our Dash Dolls spin-off show, it’s been such a huge part of our lives,” Kim continued.

She added, “We’ve loved running DASH, but in the last few years we’ve all grown so much individually. We’ve been busy running our own brands, as well as being moms and balancing work with our families. We know in our hearts that it’s time to move on.”
Khloé, Kim and Kourtney, 46 — as well as many other members of their famous family — have since gone on to launch various successful business ventures over the years.
