Ina Garten is stepping into the world of podcasting.
The Food Network star, 78, announced that she will be launching her very own Happy Hour with Ina Garten video podcast in September, featuring TV-show-style interviews with her famous friends and plenty of cocktail-induced deep conversations.
In an interview with The New York Times, published Sunday, June 21, Garten explained that podcasting “was kind of younger and cooler and it was the thing that was moving fast, and I thought it would be really fun to be in that stream.”
That desire then prompted a bidding war that ended with Vox Media offering the beloved celebrity chef a seven-figure deal for her upcoming show.

While she has spent the past few months cooking up some fresh ideas with her executive producer, Jenna Weiss-Berman, the first few episodes of Garten's podcast will be filmed at her New York City apartment in an effort to embrace the “messiness” that she claims is lacking on traditional television.

With a list of dream guests floating around in her head, Garten has already teased her desire to have Tom Holland and Zendaya on the show to discuss how they like to cook for each other.

As for why Garten has limited herself to making cocktails and mocktails on her new podcast instead of using the opportunity to show off her cooking skills? The Barefoot Contessa star told The New York Times that she wants her audience to be able to hear pleasant sounds — including “the pop of a cork or a cocktail shaker” — rather than the off-putting sound of “a raw chicken being cut.”
“It's all about personalization,” she emphasized. “You can watch TV one way, but you can watch and listen to podcasts any way you want, and I think that's really what's appealing about it.”
