Mark Greaney is back with another Gray Man book.
Dark Union will hit the shelves early next year from Penguin Random House, and PEOPLE has the exclusive first look.
The bestselling author’s 16th book in the series sees Court Gentry, who is believed to be the last surviving member of his family, spotting his late brother at their father’s funeral.
“It’s this shocking development that sends Court on a quest for the truth and a search for his missing sibling. But the dark state will do anything to keep its secrets,” the synopsis teases.
Greaney teases the upcoming novel in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, saying, “I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on Dark Union!”
“This Gray Man novel has all the action, drama and international intrigue that fans of the series expect, and the story takes Court on a powerful emotional journey as he faces off against enemies and grapples with the consequences of his past when the brother he thought was dead returns,” the author continues.
The first book in the Gray Man series about Court, a former CIA operative, was published in 2009. The most recent book in the series, The Hard Line, came out in February 2026.

Over a decade later after the first book came out, it was adapted into a 2022 Netflix movie starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.

The streamer announced in July 2022 that a sequel to the movie was in development with Gosling and directors Joe and Anthony Russo returning.
Greaney also co-authored several books in the Jack Ryan series created by Tom Clancy.
The book series has made its way to the big screen and television, with John Krasinski most recently starring in the Prime Video adaptation that premiered in 2018.
Dark Union will be published on Feb. 23, 2027, and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
