The 63-year-old reality star says her twin daughters fully supported her decision to undergo a deep-plane facelift with Dr. Patrick K. Davis

Amy Kaplan had the support of her twin daughters every step of the way before undergoing her deep-plane facelift on Feb. 10.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, the Golden Bachelor alum, 63, says daughters and influencers, Allie Kaplan Rutstein and Lexi Kaplan Giudic, both 32, encouraged her to move forward with the procedure after hearing her talk about it for years. Beverly Hills, Calif.-based facial plastic surgeon Dr. Patrick K. Davis tells PEOPLE the total cost for the procedure, including care and hotel stay, was “around the $75,000 range.”
“Mom, stop talking about it. I think it’s time to just do it and stop talking about it,” Lexi tells PEOPLE.
Amy says she decided to move forward because “what I see in the mirror doesn’t correlate to how I feel inside.”

“So I’ve been talking about it for a while,” she says. “But, you know, I’m like four and a half, five years out from all that. So I decided that I’m feeling really good. I work out a couple of hours a day, I eat healthy, so I’m like, ‘All right, I’m ready. We’re going to do this.’ ”
“She’s been talking about this for the last, like, six years. So it’s not like she woke up one day and she’s like, ‘I’m going to get a facelift tomorrow,’ ” Lexi says. “She’s been really doing her research and, like, really, really wanting this.”
“We would always see her kind of, like, just in the mirror,” Lexi says, before Allie adds, “In the mirror pulling her face.”
“And so I’m like, ‘Mom, just get the facelift, if you could fix that. You don’t have to stand here pulling your face,’ ” Lexi continues.
Amy explains the procedures on her face, neck and brows focused on correcting her “sad look.”

“So, you see all of this sagging? I have a sad look because my lips frown because when everything starts drooping, you look sad,” she says. “I’m doing my neck, I’m doing my face. He goes vertical, so it brings the cheeks back up. It’s a deep-plane vertical. He calls it, they call it a vertical lift. It’s going to go up. I’m going to do a lateral brow lift, not one where you look surprised, but just the outer third of the brows, so they go up a little bit.”
Dr. Davis tells PEOPLE the “main thrust” of the surgery was “a deep-plane facelift,” explaining that the technique “really lifts the deeper layers of the face vertically,” and “restores the tissues back to where they once were as opposed to being pulled to the side.”
He says Amy also had work done on her brows and upper eyelids. “We worked on raising her outside eyebrows that have kind of fallen on the sides,” he says. “And then I did a very light removal of skin on her eyes, which is called an upper blepharoplasty.”

“So for all of this together, including anesthesia, the nursing care, staying with her overnight, all that, she’s around the $75,000 range,” he says, noting that “conservatively,” the procedure itself would be about “$70,000 for everything” without the hotel stay.
For Amy, choosing Dr. Davis came down to the technique. She says one of the biggest draws was the way he places the incisions.
“What I love about him is his incision, you only have a little incision here. It goes deep in the hairline here, so you can wear a high ponytail. Nobody sees,” she says.
Allie adds, “And it’s hidden behind the hairline.”
Amy says the goal was always to look like herself, just refreshed. “Basically, we’re just going to lift and just bring it back so the mirror reflects how I feel inside,” she says. “I’m doing it for me, not even for dating purposes.”
She continues, “I just want to stare at the person who I am inside and see that reflection in the mirror.”
“I’m feeling really, really good. I was back at the gym, I would say, probably two weeks after the procedure,” she tells PEOPLE in a follow-up interview. “I waited until about, like, a good four or five weeks. I started doing lightweights and now it’s just going to be eight weeks today, I think. And I’m back at the gym lifting.”
She says the first few days were not as painful as she feared. “The first three days, I would call it more uncomfortable,” Amy says. “I wouldn’t call it pain. It was discomfort.”
“I look just like myself, but, you know, the younger version of me,” she says. “Now my face is matching my body and my soul and spirit.”
“So far, [my daughters are] so happy,” Amy says. “They said, ‘Mom, you look like you did 10 years ago. You look really good. It’s so natural.’ ”
Amy says she’s glad the family chose to be open about the journey. “I kind of want you to demystify it,” she says. “People see the before, they see the after, you know, six months after. That’s not the real process.”
When asked whether she has any regrets, Amy says, “No. I feel great.”
