With Dua Lipa and Callum Turner's extended wedding festivities already kicking off in Sicily, some fans might be wondering why the couple chose the stunning Italian island as the destination for their reported second celebration.
The couple, who officially tied the knot in an intimate U.K. ceremony on May 31, previously visited Palermo, Sicily, together last year, shortly after they confirmed their engagement in June 2025.
One month later, the “Houdini” singer, 30, shared a look inside her romantic getaway with her now-husband, 36, in a series of photos shared to her Instagram in July 2025. Through the post, fans caught a glimpse of some of the special moments, activities and cuisine that likely made the couple want to return almost one year later.

Lipa began the sweet carousel of photos at the time with a snap of her and Turner posing for a selfie together in the streets of Palermo. The couple appeared to enjoy taking in all the Sicilian architecture together, as Lipa also included more shots of Palermo's historic buildings, luxe murals and surrounding water views.
In addition to some sightseeing, the pair took advantage of the city's seaside location and embarked on a yacht excursion together. Multiple snaps showed the couple enjoying a meal together and soaking up the sun during the ride.

Lipa and Turner also made sure to explore Sicily's delicious food scene, with one snap showing the Eternity actor with a big smile on his face as he holds a cannoli in each hand. The singer included photos of a pasta dish and a number of beverages she tried during the trip as well.
“Palermo in my ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡,” she wrote in the caption.
Returning almost one year later, the couple were first spotted in Palermo together on Thursday, June 4, less than a week after they said "I do" at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London.

On Friday, June 5, a number of stars were already spotted stepping out at the pair's pre-wedding bash in Sicily's capital, including Charli xcx, her husband George Daniel, Grace Gummer and Joe Alwyn. The event will kick off Lipa and Turner's reported three-day nuptials this weekend.
The celebrations are expected to move to Bagheria, Sicily — a town located about 30 minutes outside Palermo — later this weekend, where an 18th-century palace called Villa Valguarnera will reportedly serve as an evening venue.

While Lipa and Turner's high-profile wedding is drawing plenty of attention to Sicily this weekend, the destination has been a buzzy tourist hotspot for some time, especially since HBO's White Lotus brought even more eyes — and A-listers — to Italy's largest island.
Stars like Jennifer Coolidge, Theo James, Meghann Fahy and Aubrey Plaza filmed all over the isle for season 2, which premiered in 2022 and caused a spike in travel searches often dubbed "the White Lotus effect."
Stunning Sicilian destinations served as the backdrop, especially the town of Taormina, where the San Domenico Palace embodied the fictional White Lotus hotel.
