Charles Barkley doesn’t attend weddings, not even for Taylor Swift.
Although Swift’s star-studded wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3 has been widely dubbed “the American wedding of the century,” Barkley wasn’t among the estimated 1,000 guests — by choice.
Barkley, 63, confirmed that he received but “politely declined” an invitation to the Big Apple bash during an appearance on the Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo podcast on Tuesday, July 7.

“I don’t go to weddings,” the Inside the NBA analyst said. “I don’t go to weddings or funerals, but I did get an invite, and I politely declined ‘cause I thought it was gonna be a crap show.”
He continued, “I love Travis and Jason, and I’ve only met Taylor one time. But, yeah, I did get an invite, but I said, ‘Hey, you know what, that’s just too much. I just want to hang out and play golf, but I don’t want to dress up and all that other stuff.’ But I appreciate the invitation, it was pretty special.”
Barkley wasn’t the only invitee to skip the wedding. Ryan Seacrest revealed during the July 6 episode of On Air with Ryan Seacrest that he had to cancel his plans to attend the New York City nuptials due to a work commitment.
In addition to their families, Swift and Kelce, both 36, celebrated their wedding with an extensive guest list of famous friends and colleagues, including Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Emma Stone, Brad Pitt and many more. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.

Elsewhere on Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo, Barkley expressed his excitement to participate in the American Century Championship in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
The premier celebrity golf tournament will also feature several attendees from Swift and Kelce’s wedding hitting the greens this week, including best man Jason Kelce and guests Rob Riggle, Kyle Juszczyk, Andrew Whitworth, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Rich Eisen and Baker Mayfield.
