Plus, more supportive styles to shop
Cute summer shoes may look good with your outfits, but if they lack support then it makes for a long and painful day.
To help balance style and cushion, we talked with two podiatrists who shared their favorite shoes, as well as what they agree to be the worst for any feet. Spoiler alert: It’s flip-flops. Dr. Nicole Freels, a board-certified podiatrist and founder and CEO of Lexington Podiatry, tells PEOPLE the "flimsy" shoes “force foot muscles and tendons to work harder to stabilize foot.” Over time that can cause shin splints, heel pain, arch pain, and tendonitis (to name a few). But one of her and board-certified podiatrist Dr. Anne Sharkey’s favorite brands have a pair of sandals on sale for 63 percent off during Amazon Prime Day 2026 — and they’re wide-foot-friendly.

Revitalign Baja Slides

$90 $33 at Amazon
Revitalign is a brand that Dr. Freels loves — and right now you can grab a pair of sleek slides for just $33. They’re made with key elements that the podiatrist looks for in shoes, like a contoured footbed which she says “supports the arch,” as well as a deep heel cup to stabilize the rear of the foot.
The soft leather straps add an extra layer of cushion that’ll keep feet swaddled in comfort and add an elegant touch. They come in five colors, including a neutral tan that’s easy to style with a dress for date nights or shorts and a T-shirt for running errands. The slim design also makes them easy to pack in a suitcase without taking up too much room.

Another notable feature is the adjustable straps, which Dr. Sharkey says is best for anyone who “experiences fluctuating swelling levels or has a wider forefoot.” That way, you can personalize the fit for a more comfortable and secure feel.
Bonus Podiatrist Tip
Dr. Sharkey says you should avoid “wearing sandals that are several years old and worn out.” She adds that just like with running shoes, the “cushioning and support materials break down” over time, which can lead to a lack of support.
Grab the Revitalign Baja Slides while they’re still a whopping 63 percent off and keep reading to check out more of Dr. Freels and Dr. Sharkey’s favorite shoes for summer.
