Kate Middleton “has very little to do” with the strained relationship between estranged brothers Prince William and Prince Harry.
Journalist Omid Scobie, who has extensively covered Harry and Meghan Markle, addressed the brothers’ fractured bond in ABC News Studios’ documentary about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent move back to the UK.
He said he doesn’t expect anything to “change” between William and Harry — despite speculation that Kate could act as a “peacekeeper,” according to the Daily Mail.
“There’s always this talk of Kate potentially being the peacekeeper, the one that could bring the two brothers together,” Scobie, 45, said in “Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince.”
“If I’ve learned anything over the years from covering them, it’s that Kate has very little to do with that relationship between the brothers,” he added.
Scobie also said he believes Harry, 42, and King Charles III, 77, have turned a corner, claiming the “iciness” between the father and son has “thawed” and there is now “warmth” between them.
Erin Hill, senior royals editor at People, also weighed in on the documentary, saying palace insiders have told the outlet that William and Kate, both 44, have decided “behind the scenes” to take a “very old-school royal approach” to Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK: “Keep calm, carry on, do the job.”
“So right now Harry and Meghan, they’re not a priority for them, and they’re very much looking to the future,” Hill said, per the Daily Mail.
Author Russell Myers told People last week that Charles and William are “completely united on the Sussexes not representing the royal family,” adding that the father and son are “without a doubt … in sync” on the matter.
As Page Six previously reported, William has “washed his hands” of Harry amid the latest Sussex drama.
The couple’s return to the UK has already been accompanied by controversy surrounding their children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — who were pulled from their new school just two days into the term over security concerns.
“The Sussexes’ presence will always generate noise and distraction, and I think the first few weeks have demonstrated exactly why the royal family remains concerned,” royal insider Kinsey Schofield told Page Six.
She also said William “has his own family to protect” as well as “his responsibilities as Prince of Wales,” pointing to his three children with Kate: Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.
“The Prince and Princess of Wales are trying to provide stability for their own children while Prince George begins an enormous new chapter at Eton,” Schofield added.
