Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes Hilariously Crashes Live TV Segment During His Lunch Break

Scottie Barnes made an unexpected cameo on the news during his lunch break.

The 25-year-old Toronto Raptors star crashed CP24 reporter Sean Leathong’s live segment about the team officially signing Kawhi Leonard on Thursday, Sept. 24, and Barnes was surely having fun with his surprise appearance.

“And Scottie Barnes here behind us just enjoying a little bit of lunch and a little bit of the shade outside, trying to keep it cool,” Leathong told viewers as Barnes ate from a takeout box while leaning against the facility in the background.

When Barnes heard Leathong say the Leonard deal was done, he gave an animated reaction to his teammate’s massive contract: a two-season pact worth $115 million.

Leathong said the Raptors have an exciting season ahead of them with the addition of Leonard, as well as fan-favorite players like Barnes, which made Barnes look straight into the camera to give viewers a confident expression.

Fans loved the moment. “Scottie is a natural 😂,” one fan wrote on X. Another joked, “If you don’t love Scottie Barnes then we can’t be friends.”

According to CP24, Leathong was waiting to go live outside the Raptors’ facility when Barnes came up to him and asked if he was a member of the media. Leathong apparently asked Barnes if he wanted to do an interview during the segment, to which the Raptor told him, “Nah, I’ll just be back here.”

After the live segment concluded, Leathong reportedly asked Barnes what he did in the background. “I didn’t do nothing,” Barnes told him, according to CP24.
