With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce reportedly set to be married at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, the New York City Police Department is preparing for the large-scale event.
According to The New York Times and the New York Post, the NYPD is expected to station more than 100 officers in the area of the iconic venue.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani previously confirmed that a permit for a "large event" at the arena was filed, NBC New York reported, though he did not specify what the event was.
The Times reported that at a press conference, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told reporters the department was "tracking" an event slated for July 3. “The NYPD will of course have a detail in place, but I'm not going to go into more specifics at this time,” she said.
Sources also told the Times that Swift had applied for permits to close the streets outside the arena.
According to the outlet, the couple's wedding plans reportedly include a rehearsal dinner of about 100 people on Thursday, July 2, at a theater inside the arena — an event that will also include a major police detail.
The larger Friday celebration will feature approximately 1,000 guests, per the Times.

While officials have been publicly tight-lipped about the specifics of the event and will not outright confirm if it is indeed what some have dubbed "America's royal wedding," there have been some hints.
NBC New York published a photo of an NYPD officer holding a folder, which reads "Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Wedding," with the date July 2 written on it, which is the same date of the reported rehearsal dinner.

In a video posted on social media warning New Yorkers about an ongoing heat wave, Mamdani playfully referenced the event.
"We are entering what could be the most extreme heat wave this city has seen in over a decade. It can hit 100 degrees, with temperatures feeling as hot as 112 and staying hot into the weekend," he said. "We're ready, but we want to make sure you are too. Especially if you're celebrating the World Cup or the Fourth of July, or renting out MSG to get married, hypothetically."
