A 40-year-old woman from Texas has been found dead less than a week after her family reported her missing.
Angelita Martinez was last seen on the evening of May 1 on Padre Island and was reported missing to the authorities by her family, according to a Corpus Christi Police Facebook statement posted on May 4. Martinez was last seen on foot.
Five days later, police found Martinez's body at the Padre Island National Seashore in Kleberg County on Wednesday, May 6, per the updated release.

The Texas Rangers are currently investigating her death with the assistance of the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Martinez was last seen wearing a gray top and dark-colored sweats and was carrying a Nike galaxy backpack, according to the release.
She was described as “a white female, who is 5'01” tall, weight approx. 160 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes.” The release also stated that Martinez had “pink curly hair and a nose ring.”
Police shared two photos of Martinez alongside the release.
Her daughter told local media outlet KRIS 6 that no foul play is suspected in her death at this time and that her mother was from Austin, Texas.
