The Fourth of July isn't any ordinary holiday to Taylor Swift.
Swifties know that the singer's connection to the Fourth of July dates back years, from epic parties that have been famously dubbed "Taymerica" to several lyrical references to the holiday.
This year, however, the singer is possibly skipping her famed Fourth of July bash in lieu of a bigger celebration: her wedding.
Ahead of the pop star's nuptials to fiancé Travis Kelce, The New York Times reported on June 24 that the couple are expected to get married ahead of the Fourth of July weekend, citing multiple sources familiar with the preparations. Although the bride and groom haven't confirmed any rumors, there's much to unpack about Swift's history with the holiday weekend.
Below, here's everything to know about Taylor Swift's connection to the Fourth of July.

Swift has turned her oceanfront mansion in Watch Hill, R.I., into a star-studded Fourth of July party for several years.
First held in 2013, the parties — dubbed "Taymerica" — have been known for giant water slides, an exclusive guest list and iconic group photoshoots.
Perhaps the most famous party was in 2016, when she was dating actor Tom Hiddleston and he wore an “I [heart] T.S.” tank top while in the water with the singer. After that, she seemed to take a seven-year hiatus from hosting the party until June 2023.
Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and the Haim sisters are just a few of the celebrities who have attended over the years.

Swift's Independence Day celebrations have gone down in history for many — but few more than Ed Sheeran, as it's where his love story with his wife truly began.
The "Shape of You" singer, who is a longtime friend of Swift's, has known his wife Cherry Seaborn since they were 11 years old. Their relationship was purely a friendship and they eventually lost touch when he went on tour years later.
In 2015, the couple reunited in New York City as adults after a mutual friend invited them both out. Shortly after, they had their first official date at one of Swift's Fourth of July parties, as Sheeran told PEOPLE in March 2017.
"I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor's Fourth of July party. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, 'I'm in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,' and I was like, 'So am I,' " he recalled. "I kinda said to Taylor, 'Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?' The rest is history."

In July 2023, Swift shared a photo from one of her celebrations boasting the single status of her and several friends — including Gomez, Este, Danielle and Alana Haim, Ashley Avignone and Sydney Ness — right before many of them found love.
"Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies," the pop star captioned the post, which Este also shared to her Instagram Stories, writing, "single summer never looked so good."
"See you tonight Kansas Cityyy," Swift also wrote in the caption, just one day before her and Kelce's love story began.
On July 8, he was seen attending that stop on Swift's Eras Tour and later revealed that he tried — and failed — to meet the singer after the show.
"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," the football player said on his podcast New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, adding that he was "a little butthurt" that he wasn't able to deliver a personalized bracelet to the singer.
In an October 2025 interview on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up, Swift looked back on the irony of the post, given that several of the people in it found love soon after.
"How deranged is that post? I think back on that, I'm like … there's no way," Swift said.
"I'm in this picture with a bunch of girls. A lot — not just me and Selena — a few of the other girls found their person right after that," the Grammy winner said. "And the fact that it was right before the Kansas City show, where like, I'd been like, 'Happy Independence Day from your local, single girlies' or something like that. And then I the next day go and play in Kansas City — not knowing that Travis was gonna come to the show."
Several Taylor Swift songs have references to the Fourth of July

Miss Americana has seemingly referenced the Fourth of July in several of her songs.
Her 2017 track "End Game," which was co-written by Sheeran, hears him rap about something being "born on the 4th of July" after a storm. The lyric is partly a reference to him meeting his wife at Swift's party, as the co-songwriters discussed in a February 2018 behind-the-scenes video for the song's music video.
"The Fate of Ophelia" — the first song on Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl — hears her sing about someone saving her from Ophelia's tragic ending in William Shakespeare's Hamlet. The track begins with Swift seemingly referencing the July 2023 Instagram photo.
“Swore my loyalty to me, myself and I / Right before you lit my sky up,” she sings on the track.
