The Last Days of Vic & Coco will hit shelves (and ears) in March 2027 and promises to be a “sharp, seductive and electric” read “set in the sun-and-shadows world of long desert highways, seedy motels and dive bars,” according to an official synopsis. Victoria Lucchese and Colette Wilson are pool hustlers who have spent years traveling the country and conning men with more ego than skill. “The con is simple: Coco, magnetic and fearless, draws men in with her good looks and convinces them to play against her friend, Vic,” the synopsis explains. “Vic and Coco are the closest thing to family either one has ever had… even if they don’t know each other’s real names.”

But by the summer of 1974, word has started to get around about the notorious pair, so they devise a plan that could result in their biggest payday ever — or total ruin. “Even though they want different things from life, they swear they will stick together. But can you ever really trust the promises of a hustler?” the synopsis asks.
Reid previously described the book as a “love letter to female friendship.”
“Vic & Coco on the road in the 70s, kicking up a lot of trouble, was an absolute blast to write… and I stole so much from my own life for it — so I’m all the more eager to share it with readers,” she added.

The audiobook will feature an all-star cast to bring this propulsive story to life: audiobook narrator extraordinaire and longtime Reid collaborator Julia Whelan, The L Word‘s Jennifer Beals, Edoardo Ballerini (The Sopranos) and the Tony Award-winning Danny Burstein.
Reid, also the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Atmosphere, Daisy Jones & The Six and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, is “such a fan” of the quartet and calls the casting “an extraordinary gift.”

“Every one of them brings something special to these characters, and together they’ve created a listening experience that’s so much more than I ever imagined,” the author continues. “I feel incredibly fortunate to have a cast of this caliber lending their voices to this story, and I can’t wait for listeners to experience what they’ve created together.”

Reid’s books are reaching beyond the page and headphones, with seven of her novels headed to the big screen. In June, Anna Kendrick was announced as the director of Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s bestselling novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. A date has not yet been set for the film’s release. Riley Keough has also been tapped to star in the Netflix adaptation of Carrie Soto is Back, with Serena Williams set to executive produce the latter TV show.
“It’s a trip,” Reid says of seeing her books find a new life onscreen. She was particularly impressed by Keough and Claflin’s performances as members of the fictional ‘70s rock band Daisy Jones & The Six.
“From the second [Keough’s] name showed up in my inbox, it was like absolutely yes,” says Reid, who produced the series. “For me to create the character of Daisy Jones, and then to watch her be Daisy Jones, it was honestly beyond my wildest dreams.”
