Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets opened up about his journey with depression almost 10 years before he died by suicide.
"Depression is the Devil's way of attacking us," Sheets wrote in a 2018 Instagram post featuring a photo of himself wearing sunglasses beside a lake. "It knows no mercy, it takes our smiles it comes and goes, it ruins our relationships, it takes away our happiness, it leads to suicide in some cases, it destroys all thoughts of positivity, it is a 24/7 battle and allows no rest for the suffering,"
"It's a very real deal," Sheets continued at the time. "So please next time someone tells you they have Depression, be kind and know that they spend every minute they have breathing, suffering!!!"
Sheets was found dead at the age of 67 in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. from an apparent suicide on Wednesday, April 22.
“The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation,” the Lake Havasu City Police Department wrote in a press release.

The Mohave County Medical Examiner's office is now handling the investigation, the Lake Havasu Police Department confirmed in the press release.
Authorities said the incident is under active investigation and asked for anyone with information to contact the Lake Havasu City Police Department at 928-855-1171.
Sheets initially rose to prominence on Storage Wars, a show documenting professional buyers as they bid competitively for storage lockers full of unknown potentially lucrative treasures. The A&E show began airing in 2010, and Sheets appeared on the program alongside his son, Brandon.
"We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell "The Gambler" Sheets," a spokesperson for A&E said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
