The Food and Drug Administration announced a recall involving a popular brand of moringa leaf capsules that may be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
Relay Peak Research LLC (Zen Principle Naturals), located in Incline Village, Nev., is “voluntarily recalling” its Zen Principle® brand Moringa Capsules, according to a press release from the FDA. The recall was initiated on July 19.
The dietary supplement was recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella, “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” per the agency.
“Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain,” according to the FDA. “In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
The product, sold through Amazon, eBay, and Etsy, was widely distributed between December 2025 and July 2026, according to the FDA.
The recall is specific to 180-count bottles of Zen Principle Moringa Capsules, according to the FDA’s release. The impacted lot number is A6FF4, and the bottles are marked with an expiration date of November 2028. The information is printed on the bottom of the bottle.
The product is offered as a 1-pack of 180 capsules, with Amazon code/FNSKU X000ZJJ4FT, and as a 2-pack of 360 capsules, with Amazon code/FNSKU X00159YJXP. No other products from the brand are currently impacted, and there have been no reported illnesses as a result of consuming the capsules.

“The recall was initiated after the company was notified by its ingredient supplier that FDA testing of the moringa leaf powder used to manufacture the product returned positive for Salmonella,” according to the FDA. “That raw material was used to produce this single lot of finished product. The company has ceased all sale and distribution of the product and is cooperating fully with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”
