A person was taken to the hospital on Monday after a plane overshot the runway at a small airport in Massachusetts.
Just after 8 a.m. on Monday, June 15, Cape Air Flight 2111 from Boston to Provincetown, Mass., was landing as it overshot the runway at Provincetown Municipal Airport, Cape Air tells PEOPLE.

The Cessna 402 aircraft was carrying just three people: the pilot, a co-pilot, and a passenger. Cape Air said they are cooperating with airport authorities and the appropriate agencies to review the event, and that an investigation into the damage of the plane is underway.
Photos from Capecod.com show the plane resting upright in the grass just ahead of the runway.
The Town of Provincetown released a statement detailing the incident on Monday, revealing that smoke was coming from the aircraft, but no fire was observed.
"Emergency responders arrived quickly, secured the scene, and addressed any potential hazards. There is no threat to public safety," the statement reads.

"Provincetown Police, Fire Department personnel, Airport staff, and National Park Service Rangers responded promptly and secured the scene," it added.
Following the incident, the airport briefly closed before resuming operations by 6 p.m. Monday.

"The cause of the incident remains under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Massachusetts State Police have been notified and are expected to assist with the investigation," the Town of Provincetown said in its statement.
"The town is grateful for the swift response of all public safety personnel. Further information will be released as it becomes available through the appropriate investigative agencies," the statement continued.
