New research from party booking platform Giggster breaks down which states are spending the most

Parents across the country are spending thousands to throw their little ones parties for every kind of milestone, and a new study just revealed which states are shelling out the most.
Party booking platform Giggster looked at costs across the United States to determine which states are spending the most money on celebrations, the states with the most celebration venues and what type of party add-ons drive up costs.
According to the report, New York leads the pack when it comes to the highest party services cost nationwide, with families spending $5,400. Other Northeast states like New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island all rank in the top 10 when it comes to celebration service prices.

Conversely, Missouri has the lowest party services cost at $2,700. Other states that rank low, mostly under $3,300, include Idaho, New Mexico, Alaska, Kentucky and Kansas.
As for which state has the largest venue base, with both family entertainment venues and arts and recreation establishments, California takes the cake. Montana, South Dakota and New Hampshire, however, are among the top states for venue variety.

Mississippi, however, ranks last for venue variety for baby celebrations nationwide.
Most of the expenses for parties come from entertainment, with music and magic performers ranking as the highest-priced baby celebration categories nationwide. Music entertainment averages nationwide at $566, while magic performances came in at $543.

Giggster found that the lowest party add-on nationwide is face-painting, averaging at $173. Most services fall between $250 and $500, averaging at $376.
According to Giggster, the report, which collected data from the 2024 U.S. Census Bureau and the 2026 MIT Living Wage Calculator, evaluated spending conditions across all 50 states by using "proxy indicators for spending intensity, market readiness, nd service availability."
