A Los Angeles attraction is set to break the record for the tallest Ferris wheel in California.
Located in the San Pedro neighborhood of L.A., the West Harbor Wheel is set to debut in 2027 at the $500 million, 42-acre West Harbor development. At its completed height, the Ferris wheel will measure a whopping 175 feet tall, towering over Santa Monica Pier's iconic Pacific Wheel, which stands at 100 feet.
The forthcoming Ferris wheel — "Southern California's largest coastal observation wheel" — will be a part of West Harbor Park, a waterfront amusement park, per the West Harbor website. In addition to the wheel, the park will also feature a "Venetian-style seaside carousel" and a range of rides and attractions for families.

From the Ferris wheel's peak height, riders will be able to view the Pacific Ocean and the nearby harbor, the USS Iowa battleship museum, the Vincent Thomas Bridge and any passing cruise ships, working cargo vessels or other boats traveling to the Port of L.A., Secret Los Angeles reported.
The West Harbor Wheel's carriages will be fully enclosed, so riders can take in the expansive views through every season.
The West Harbor development will also be an Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Zone, with live match viewings, interactive fan experiences and entertainment being offered at the destination as it welcomes soccer fans from all around the world, per a post on the development's Instagram.
Throughout the "four special days," soccer fans will be among the first visitors to experience West Harbor, where they can enjoy "sample offerings from vendors, relax along the water, and take in the views as cruise ships and cargo vessels pass by," a representative for West Harbor shares with PEOPLE.

Already open in the development are a seafood market and restaurant, a bike and surrey rental service, the LA Maritime Institute and whale watching and harbor cruises.
