“I give these as presents to people because they are so beautiful”
When it comes to gardening tips, tricks, and recommendations, Martha Stewart is my most-trusted source, and for good reason. She’s been gardening nearly her entire life, and now she carefully tends several personal gardens, including two that span more than 100 acres.
In an Instagram post last summer, Stewart shared snaps of her large collection of indoor faux bois planters, which is French for false wood, and she’s known to have dozens of the faux wood planters outdoors on her Maine terrace, too. “I have about 16 of these on the terrace,” she said in a QVC segment, referring to the since sold-out medium planters from her collection, adding that “they look so natural in the landscape.”
You can snag a version of Martha Stewart’s exact planters on sale now for $45, plus more indoor and outdoor pots inspired by her collection from $24.

Union Rustic Caines Faux Wood Planter

This shockingly realistic faux bois pot is crafted from cement and carved to mimic the appearance of a cut log, for a natural look that won’t degrade over time. It does not have a drainage hole, which makes it ideal for indoor plants or layering over plastic pots. It weighs just over 5 pounds, and shoppers describe it as sturdy and well-made, with one comparing it to petrified wood.

Short on space? Start small with this driftwood-inspired horizontal planter, ideal for succulents, air plants, or herbs. It’s just 14 inches long, making it easy to tuck away in a bookshelf or display on a windowsill for a pop of natural beauty. Crafted from lightweight resin, the pot is designed to mimic bonsai wood and withstand outdoor weather conditions. A drainage hole encourages soil and root health, minimizing the risk of overwatering.
One shopper dubbed it “realistic enough for my flower bed,” adding that the resin is thick and drilling additional drainage holes, if needed, is “very easy.”

Inspired by a traditional faux bois pot in the entryway of Stewart’s Maine home, she created these indoor-outdoor composite planters, which have one practical tweak. “The real faux bois is made out of cement, and you could never lift a container of faux bois,” she shared. “These are also nicely heavy, but not like cement.”
They’re fade-, rust-, and weather-resistant, which makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, with an optional drainage hole on the bottom. Stewart owns dozens of the planters herself and added, “I give these as presents to people because they are so beautiful.” Stock up while they’re on sale for $45 at QVC.
