- Katie Thurston shared that her latest scans show there is no evidence of cancer in her liver
- She will undergo a PET scan later this month to assess the status of her breast cancer after her double mastectomy in April
- Thurston remains optimistic and focused on living fully despite her stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis
Less than two months after her double mastectomy, Katie Thurston received some good news amid her ongoing breast cancer treatment.
On Monday, June 8, the Bachelorette alum, 35, posted on her Boobie Broadcast channel, where she's been sharing regular updates since being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, which has metastasized to her liver.
“Liver update: no evidence of disease!!” she wrote. “PET scan will be at the end of the month… I don't really know what to expect. I don't believe there were clear margins with my DMX and only two lymph nodes were removed. But also, what they did remove, it showed great response to treatment.”
“So I can only hope that whatever is possibly left hanging around is stable or shrinking,” she added.
Thurston explained that although she's excited about there being no cancer in her liver anymore, she still has elevated enzyme levels that doctors will have to monitor. Additionally, the upcoming PET scan will give her more information about the status of her breast cancer.

The former reality star underwent a nipple-sparing double mastectomy with direct-to-implant reconstruction on April 29. This is a procedure where a surgeon removes the breast tissue with nerve preservation and immediately places a breast implant without using a tissue expander.
“Today is surgery day!” she said at the time. “Thank you all for your support leading up to this. Your prayers, love, and positive energy have been the embrace I've needed over the last year. I still can't believe I'm at this moment… I look forward to waking up on the other side of this!”
Thurston first announced her breast cancer diagnosis in February 2025. A year after the life-changing diagnosis, she told PEOPLE that although it's unclear whether a double mastectomy will provide survival benefits in patients with metastatic cancer, “I want to do everything I can to increase my chances.”
She said that she's been focused on living life and tries not to waste her time harping on the severity of her disease.
“I refuse to call it a terminal illness,” she said. “No one is promised tomorrow. Why waste the days I've been given stressing about death?”
