As a fashion writer, one of my greatest joys is shopping for new clothes and accessories. But since I’m 5-foot-3, some trends feel out of reach, including the latest resurgence of baggy and low-rise denim. When I saw Dakota Johnson’s latest casual outfit, it reminded me of a tip that stylist and content creator Kimberly Brannigan gave me for appearing taller: Show your ankles.
Johnson followed the rule by wearing a pair of sleek ballet flats that make her legs look miles long. That’s because her cropped jeans, which land at the top of her foot, create a clean line. “It adds breadth and feels more delicate,” Brannigan notes. With their delicate bow and leather construction, these flats look similar to Johnson’s style. While the actress’ shoes have a rounded front, this pair has a square toe that helps your feet splay naturally and doesn’t pinch your toes. The newly added pair is selling fast, but select sizes are still available in the black and cognac shades, making it a pair to snap up while you still can. Wear them with jeans and a tank top like Johnson or dress them up with trousers for the office.
