The cars have come to stop at the Indianapolis 500 race track and one driver has emerged victorious: Felix Rosenqvist.
Despite rain delays and race-halting crashes from competitors, Rosenqvist, 34, ended the race with a photo finish win against David Malukas, narrowly beating him by 0.0233 seconds after passing him in the final second of the 110th running of the Indy 500 on Sunday, May 24.
“Massive thanks to the team,” said the Swedish drive, who is on the Meyer Shank Racing team, after the race. “We were the best car today. I felt like we were in all situations.”

Cars lapped the 2.5-mile oval track (with its famous brick finish line, ceremonially kissed by the victors). Many racing fans believe the track to be one of the most iconic, and with it, some of the indelible traditions from the race (run since 1911), which include a celebratory milk chug while wearing the Victory Lane Wreath.
Rosenqvist took home the sterling silver Borg Warner trophy, which features sculpted likenesses of past winners. He also wins an yet-to-be-determined amount of prize money. Last year’s record-breaking purse was over $20 million, taken home by Spanish driver Alex Palou, who was favored to win this year.

Also adding to the spectacle of the long weekend of racing were appearances from celebrities, including Brendan Fraser, who waved the green flag to signal the start of the race, as well as musician Zedd.
Zedd performed at the Coors LIght Snake Pit concert, which vied with the second-annual Wienermobile race for most fun thing happening off the main track.
Competing against Rosenqvist were some major names in the world of racing, including four-time winner Helio Castroneves, U.S. IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden and Katherine Legge, the only woman competing this year (on behalf of sponsor e.l.f. Cosmetics) — who was also attempting the "double" in order to compete in a second race, the NASCAR Cup Series' Coca-Cola 600 in North Carolina on the same day.
“It’s just unreal,” Rosenqvist said of his victory.
