While walking the red carpet at the 2026 AMAs on May 25, Chrissy Teigen experienced a bit of a wardrobe malfunction.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum, 40, stepped out in a floor-length beaded orange dress and coordinating gold heels. But as she was posing for photos alongside husband John Legend, 47, she caught her stiletto on the hem of her dress. Legend bent down to help her untangle, as did a woman on the carpet. However, the heel ripped off a few of the beads, leaving them strewn about the carpet as Teigen laughed off the snafu.
She continued to smile for the cameras with Legend, who wore tan trousers with a matching trench coat, layered over a white button-down shirt.

Legend is on hand at this year's ceremony to present an award. At the Queen Latifah-hosted ceremony, Anthony Ramos, EJAE, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Hannah Berner, Jason Derulo, Lisa Rinna, Ludacris, Mariah the Scientist, Matt Rife, Megan Stalter and Paul W. Downs, Melanie Martinez, Nikki Glaser, Paula Abdul, REI AMI, and Russell Dickerson will also present awards.
Darius Rucker, country singer and frontman of Hootie and the Blowfish, will be honored with the Veterans Voice Award. USAA's "Honor Through Action" will present the award for Rucker's meaningful commitment to those who served and lasting support of military organizations.

The show will also honor Billy Idol with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifetime of contributions to rock music. This year marks the punk icon's first AMA performance. He'll be the third recipient of the AMA's Lifetime Achievement Award, joining Diana Ross and Rod Stewart.
Karol G will receive the International Artist Award of Excellence for her musical and cultural influence around the world. It was most recently awarded in 2009 to Whitney Houston.
At the 2026 AMAs, Teigen also showed off her shorter 'do, which she unveiled earlier this year. She shared an Instagram Stories post in March, which revealed her long locks had been chopped into a blunt bob, and her hair extensions had been removed. Tagging her hairstylist, Irinel de León and Priscilla Valles, who does her extensions, she thanked her “babies” for her transformation.
The clip showed Teigen dressed in a sports bar while cuddled up in a cozy blanket on her couch at home.
While at the awards ceremony, Teigein spiced up her bob with the addition of bangs.
The 52 American Music Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah, are airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ Premium from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
