What would a wedding day be without a rugby match to cap things off?
That is exactly what happened when Amy Vinson, 42, tied the knot with Craig Vinson, 40, on Saturday, May 2, at the Weston Registry Office in England.
That day, Craig's team, the Hornets RFC, was set to take on the Blake Bears RFC for their last game of the season.
Amy insisted that her now-husband take part in the match and wore her wedding dress to cheer the team on from the sidelines hours after getting married.
"I absolutely loved standing there in my wedding dress watching him play," Amy told Metro UK. "Some brides might think it was mad, but for us it was perfect."
"I knew how important that final game of the season was to Craig and I didn't want him missing out because of the wedding," continued Amy. "If anything, it made the day even better because it was so personal."
She and Craig met on a dating site in October 2023 and had booked their wedding date before the Hornets games were announced.
After the game, which ended 45–19 to the Hornets, the wedding party, along with most of the players, celebrated at the Pear Orchard pub.
"It honestly could not have been a more perfect wedding day for us," Craig told Metro UK. "Rugby is such a huge part of our lives, so it felt completely natural to make it part of our marriage celebrations."
Craig told that outlet that he expected to miss the game because of his wedding, "but Amy wouldn't hear of it."
For Amy, it was an opportunity that brought together not only friends and family, but teammates and club veterans.
"Rugby has brought so many people into our lives over the years, so celebrating our marriage this way just felt right," she said.
