A body has been found amid the search for a missing American tourist who disappeared in Scotland.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Police Scotland confirmed that the body of a man had been discovered at around 6:50 p.m. local time on the evening of Sunday, May 24, in the Glencoe area of the Scottish Highlands.
“Formal identification has yet to take place however, the family of Timothy Rosser, 60, who had been reported missing from the area, has been informed,” police added in the message, which was also shared on Facebook.
Authorities confirmed that the death is not believed to be suspicious.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal,” police said, referring to the country's public prosecutor and death investigation authority.
A police spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE that Rosser was an American national who had been due to go hiking in the Glencoe area. He was last seen leaving his hotel in Edinburgh in his hire car on Tuesday, May 19, according to the BBC.

According to The Herald, the missing man was a tourist from the U.S.
Despite Rosser's car being spotted in Glencoe that same day, a search was launched after he failed to check into his pre-booked hotels, per STV News.

Local police inspector Daniel Jack previously said: “Timothy's family and officers are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare, and extensive enquiries remain ongoing to trace him,” according to the outlet.
Jack added at the time, “We are asking anyone who was driving on the A82 near the Three Sisters viewpoint in Glencoe around 12.45 p.m. [local time] on Tuesday, May 19, and who may have dashcam footage, to contact us.”
“We would also ask anyone who may have been hillwalking in the area that day, and who saw anything which could assist with our enquiries, to get in touch as soon as possible,” the officer concluded, per STV News.
