  • Ambulance technician Zoe Spilsbury assisted in her first home delivery and admitted feeling nervous but relied on her training
  • Four months later, Elli and her family reunited with the paramedics who helped deliver her baby, now healthy and thriving

Four months after giving birth, Elli Jordan is reuniting with the paramedics crew that helped save her life.

According to the BBC, Elli went into labor prematurely at 37 weeks this past February while at home in Lincolnshire, England. The 19-year-old was set to give birth a few weeks later, but her partner, Connor, ended up calling the emergency hotline after Elli's water broke.

"I was terrified, but I think, once the crew arrived, they kept me really reassured, and I wasn't as panicked as I was when it was just us there," said Elli. "It made me feel like I was okay."

It was ambulance technician Zoe Spilsbury's first home delivery. She admitted to the outlet that she was a little afraid when she arrived at the scene.

"Once I was in it, you just get on with it," she said. "You learn it all at training school and university, but when you're in the situation, you've just got no choice but to get on with it, have you?"

"We arrived and found mum at the top of the stairs, and we normally have time to go to [the] hospital, but on this occasion it was quite evident that the baby was definitely coming," continued Spilsbury.

After Elli gave birth, the crew monitored mom and baby boy Oscar for any complications before taking them to the hospital. Now, four months later, the crew reunited with Elli and her family at their home.

"A lot of the time when we take the patient to the hospital, we don't know what happens," said paramedic Stephen Peacock. "We part ways at that point, so to come back and see everyone happy and healthy is just the best feeling."
