An Arizona man was arrested at Legoland in California on a warrant out of Arizona after police say he strangled his girlfriend in an October 2025 attack.
Jason Marchesano was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree homicide, kidnapping, and aggravated assault following "a violent attack on his girlfriend" in Paulden, Ariz. on Oct. 28, 2025, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) announced in a press release on Monday, June 1.
Police allege that Marchesano, 46, "strangled and restrained" the alleged victim with bedsheets he found inside a fifth-wheel trailer on the property in Paulden. The woman, whose identity has not been made public, escaped and reported the alleged attack to police, who determined that her bruising was "consistent with her account," per the press release.
The YCSO says that the owners of the property corroborated the woman's account, telling police that they witnessed an argument between the suspect and alleged victim.
After following leads in Nevada and Arizona, authorities eventually located Marchesano at Legoland in Carlsbad, Calif.
"This arrest was made possible by strong investigative work, interagency partnership, and a community member who chose to speak up," the YCSO wrote in the press release.
Carlsbad Police arrested Marchesano on May 27 and he was booked into the Vista Detention Facility, where he is being held as a fugitive without bail, according to arrest records reviewed by PEOPLE. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 2 at the Central Courthouse in San Diego.
