- A kitten in New York was rescued after getting stuck in two different car engine compartments
- Police officers and an auto service worker teamed up to safely free the calico feline
- After getting freed from the first car, the kitten skittered into the engine compartment of another vehicle
A feline got trapped in a bind in New York — literally — and needed some professional help to get out.
The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department revealed on social media on Sunday, June 14, that an "adventurous little kitten" — with multi-colored fur — had officers in a tizzy after getting stuck inside the engine compartment of a vehicle.
The calico kitten was rescued by members of the police department and Chris Knapp from Stever's Garage, an auto service company. It is unclear how they got the kitten free.
However, after the feline was pulled out, the curious kitten quickly got stuck in the engine of another nearby vehicle. Police said the feline "decided it wasn't quite ready to be caught" and ran to the engine compartment of the second car.

Police shared photos of the incident, including two officers smiling alongside Knapp, who held the mischievous kitten safely in his hands. The trio appears to have taken the photo in a parking lot full of cars.
A second photo shows a close-up of the cat in one of the police officer's arms. The pictured kitten has dark gray fur with white and orange patches and green eyes.
"After a little more teamwork and patience, the kitten was safely rescued and is doing well," the police department said in a statement about rescuing the same cat twice.
"A huge thank you to Chris for lending a hand and helping ensure this furry friend had a happy ending," the agency added.
It isn't uncommon for cats to get stuck inside cars. Last year, the Charleroi Fire Department in Pennsylvania freed a tabby cat that also got stuck in a car engine.

The fire department shared photos of the rescue, including shots of a cat wedged in a tight spot under the car's hood and a rescuer petting the feline after it was freed.

In May, a kitten even snuck into a car's grille, unbeknownst to the driver, "hitchhiking" more than 100 miles across Pennsylvania, per CBS Pittsburgh.
Kennedy Township Police Chief Anthony Bruni told the outlet, "Several individuals gathered around his car and advised him that a cat had walked under his car, a kitten. He looked under his car and checked around; he didn't see any cats. He figured the kitten had probably just wandered away."
